Brand Strategy & Identity
Ten Four Ag is Pene Keynes' agricultural consulting business: strategy, facilitation, and communications for farming groups, producer organisations, and industry bodies. The name comes from the radio call "ten-four": message received. The brand had to do the same thing the business does, create clarity, and be taken seriously in two very different rooms.

Brand strategy and identity for Ten Four Ag, Keyneton, South Australia.

The Challenge

A brand that had to pull up to a farm gate and walk into a government meeting, and belong in both.

Pene works across formal tenders and capability statements one day, and utes and farm gates the next. We called it the ute test: does the brand hold up in both places without changing costume?

That ruled a lot out. Too corporate and it dies at the farm gate. Too rustic, the terracotta-and-caramel look everyone expects from ag, and it can't hold a government room. It needed to feel calm, considered, and credible everywhere, without leaning on a single agricultural cliché.

The Approach

Editorial, grounded, and confident enough to skip the obvious.

The biggest call was colour. Instead of the expected earthy ag palette, we went to Night Bordeaux, a deep burgundy that reads premium and thoughtful rather than heritage-wine, warmed by a soft olive brass and kept breathing with a warm off-white. Unexpected in agriculture, but never trying to be clever.

Serif-led typography, because the brand's personality is editorial, intelligent without being cold. And a plain wordmark as the primary logo: no gimmick, just right. The kind of mark that doesn't feel designed, which is exactly why it passes the ute test.

The Outcome

A full identity system Pene can run across every context.

Logo suite with variants for everything from a favicon to formal signage. Complete colour system, typography hierarchy, and a full brand guidelines document. Plus the applications that matter: capability statement, business cards, letterhead, social templates, so the brand's ready to work, not just look good in a folder.

Calm, credible, and clear-thinking. A brand that says "message received" before Pene's said a word.

Working with Bridget was an absolute pleasure, she was responsive and thoughtful in her designs and alignment with my vision. So pleased with what we have ended up with and her support throughout the process. Definitely worth the investment and would highly recommend her to anyone needing branding done for their businesses.
